How to use Pinterest to grow your Instagram
Pinterest is powerhouse when it comes to generating traffic for content online. Most people in the digital world are already well aware of how important Pinterest is when it comes to getting views on your blog or website. However, I almost never see anyone talking about using Pinterest to grow your following on Instagram, even though it works the exact same way.
In this post, I want to share with your three strategies you an implement to start using your Pinterest to grow your audience on Instagram right away.
Create optimized pins for your most high-value posts
If you’ve seen much of my content in the past, then you’ll know that I’m all about creating high value content on Instagram. In my opinion, Instagram has become blogging in 2020 - we’re all crafting these long posts that could either be encouraging, educational, or entertaining.
So why not direct readers from Pinterest to those mini blog posts you’ve written on your Instagram?
You can create an optimized Pinterest graphic either in Canva or photoshop (or even Instagram Stories if you’re crafty!), upload that graphic to Pinterest, and simply add the link to your Instagram post.
Readers who find value in your post may just end up following you on Instagram for more.
Pin your Instagram posts to your Pinterest boards
In addition to creating graphics that direct Pinterest users to the content of your caption, you can also just directly pin your Instagram posts to related boards on Pinterest. Both platforms are so visual, so this is a great way to find potential new followers who like your particular aesthetic. Plus, I always find that posts that are cute or artistic always seem to perform the best for me on Pinterest.
Start a blog
The thing about Pinterest is it’s an evergreen platform. Content is searchable, and most people are finding content because it’s related to a topic they are interested in, not just because they came across it on their “for you page” or “explore" page. For that reason, it can be easier to capture an audience from Pinterest by creating high value, specific, niche content. A blog (or Youtube channel, or podcast) is the perfect opportunity for this. You can capture traffic from Pinterest on your blog or website, and then when the readers fall in love with your high quality content, they may just follow up by finding you on Instagram.
